Hope In The Apocalypse
Is there hope in the apocalypse? Will those fair of heart and innocent be saved in the face of total destruction? Is the threat of the apocalypse real? Will it occur due to divine intervention, or will it be triggered by nuclear weapons launched by people? Will it occur at all? Millions of people are looking for answers for these questions. However, it is impossible to find a single answer that will satisfy everyone.
One of these questions can be answered easily. The threat of the apocalypse is indeed real. There are hundreds of religions, and each of them has its own vision of the apocalypse. One also should not forget that there are millions of people who do not believe in any deities. They refute any ideas that imply divine intervention, and biblical apocalypse is one of them. However, you shouldn’t forget that there is another meaning to this word. According to a dictionary, “apocalypse” is merely an extremely important event. When you look at it this way, the word usually associated with some great biblical disaster loses a huge part of its dramatic effect. Considering this, the apocalypse can indeed occur. The real question here is what kind of monumental event it will be.
It is much more difficult to determine whether there can be hope in the apocalypse. In order to find an answer to this question, one must know what kind of an apocalypse will occur. Even then, the conclusions you draw from this event and its results are influenced by your personal views and opinions.
Let us consider the apocalypse to be the end of the world as we know it, and assume that this disaster will erase the past and give people a chance of starting their lives from a clean slate. In this case, one can really see some hope in the situation. Many theosophical teachings focus on this exact scenario, so people that belong to these confessions can see some hope in the great disaster. However, not everyone is unhappy with the current state of the world. This means that regardless of the promised future, a great deal of people will always see the apocalypse as an ultimate tragedy that will destroy everything they love. This definitely is a cause for despair.
No one can tell if there is hope in the apocalypse, because no one knows whether such an event will occur. Those who believe in it have different views on the subject, but this matter is too personal for people to be able to come to a single conclusion.
